Food Industry & Fishing

The food-processing sector and fishery are part of the strategic development axes of Morocco, and SOMED is active in this area via 3 sectors : 

UMEP, founded in 1989, operates in the cephalopod fisheries with a fleet of nine freezer vessels.

SOPROLIVES, founded in 2005, in partnership with the Portuguese group Sovena, exploits farms of more than 2,600 acres in the El Kelâa des Sraghnas region.

LAITPLUS, founded in 2008, in partnership with the Centrale Laitière, exploits a farm of 1,400 acres in the Gharb region.
